After many months of research and a total of four different pick sets i have come to the conclusion that this one is the best by far for the money. Here are some guides to using this set: 1) use the corner of a file to rough up the handles for better grip. File up and down on the handle when the pick is oriented horizontally (parallel to the ground). Tgis with give you much better grip and control on the pick especially if you have sweaty hands. 2) use the snake pick (end looks like a worm) and the rake (has 6 teeth) for cheap wafer locks (commonly found in file cabinets desk drawers some gun boxes workshop cabinets etc). These locks have terrible security and you can open them by jiggling eith pick in the keyway with extremely light tenion on tge wrench. 3) use the half diamond (single bump) and the hook (swooping upwards end) for pin and tumbler locks. To pick these apply light tension on the wrench and GENTLY slide either pick across tge pins. It usually takes very little force to set a pin especially if you use little force on your wrench. You can do the traditional single pin picking with the hook pick but the above method is faster. 4) use as little force as possible. Pins or wafers do not take much pressure to set and if you put too much pressure on your pick it will overset your pins forcing you to start over. I took a very long tume to learn this at one point i pushed on my picks really hard for 9 minutes before lowering the pressure on my pick and imeadiately opened the padlock i was working with. 5) using the low pressure glidong method (also known as zipping) by starting at the back of the lock and pushong gently on the pins while pulling the pick out i was able to open my back door that i had previously been unable to open. Use less pressure the lock will open faster.
