Q: are they dimmible?

Xaos Not with the wall-wart that comes with them, but they can be dimmed, preferably by any kind of PWM dimmer capable of dealing with at least about 3A of current.

Radio ist einfach zu bedienen und hat angenehme Lautstärke. DAB Empfang ist mittelprächtig, aber ausreichend, Akku hält sehr lange.

Q: what is the maximum temperature that these things work at...upper operating limit that does not destroy it? (Not talking about temperature differential).

Xaos Ithink the 150°C hot-side temperature stated pretty well covers it. I did destroy one by going somewhat above that (probably some 180°C,).

This unit sells itself cheap with its looks (and the rather moderate user interface that makes life full of surprises again). The actual measurement works very well, so well I have the unit on most of the time just to quickly figure out component values. The unit can do advanced measurements also, but doing that is a pain and the results are not visualized nicely, even though the unit sure could do that - it would make sense to rewrite the front end software from scratch I guess. Why on earth East Tester didn't put the back side rubber piece on the front side also to protect the BNC connectors when transporting the unit also is beyond me. Overall this is a hidden gem, which with a little effort could probably sell for quite a bit more :)

The product was well worth the wait - while I actually bought it as a child's gift I am rather positively surprised by how much it can do and how well it does it, given the price. It won't replace a real bench scope, but it makes for a useful portable scope, with rather long battery life, it is (and children will quickly test that) rather robust and easy to use, despite just the two push-encoders and the stop/pause button. I didn't give it an in-depth check up to bandwidth limits and checking out every voltage range, but judging from what little I did it has a reasonably low noise floor, and if it survives long enough it might make an actually useful tool for them children.

Right out of the box the unit didn't work because there was some problem with the internal battery connection. After fixing that the unit serves its intended purpose here, which is identifying pinout of transistors, but I also tried it out on some passive parts, all verfieid with three other multimeters - the measurements of the unit are up to 5% off, but there is no clear pattern to it. I wouldn't recommend it as the sole tool for measuring parts. but apart from the battery issue it works great for identifying components.
