N3OMOD There is no battery, it works only when connected to a power outlet (or a good inverter if you use it on the move). The heat retention depends on the temperature desired and the outside temperature: at room temperature (about 20°C) boiling water will be hot for ~3.5h (and by hot I mean you can't touch or drink it) while it will stay warm for many more hours. Generally, in my experience, with coffee it will last about 12h going from hot to warm.
