As far as upgrades are concerned, I cannot see any difference between the original and this one. That aside, this is a cheap way to get into 32bit boards while using the still ubiquitous RAMPS. The board is of high quality. However this board(including the original from Panucatt) has a few shortcomings compared to the mega. 1. Few less pins than mega 2. SPI mode with TMC2208 drivers 3. Using the RepRap Discount Graphics LCD There's a hack to get the LCD working, by getting 5V from some other pin. I'd say this is not intended for absolute beginners. Smoothieware comes preloaded. With some steps marlin(v2.0) may also be installed. It's easy to upload firmware to this board using the SD card that is included. Despite some hassle, it's a cheap way to really UPGRADE an older printer board!
