I bought this to try annealing cartridge brass. It works to heat screw driver tips red hot, but it does not work for what I wanted it for. At 12V, it draws 1.55 amps with no load. My power puts out 5 amps (max), dropping down to 10V while heating a screw driver tip. With 5.56 brass, it draws 2.6 amps at 12V. It heats the brass, but not hot enough to anneal it. I wish I knew about the higher power unit before buying this one.

Catwatcher This is an induction heater which will work with electrically conductive materials. While it may/will heat brass, the heating efficiency will be low. Magnetic materials such steel will heat with much higher efficiency. I wouldn't recommend this small unit for heating relatively large brass objects such as typical cartridge brass.

umitsayman To heat up Cu, Al, MS brasses, you need another type of induction device with high frequency perhaps, or use a cast iron crucible to heat up and anneal your brass inside.
