I spotted the following issues: 1. Repeatability out of the box is not OK. It would even yield measurement differences of 0.08mm. This is because there's too much play between the ruler and the sled. I manage to improve this to max 0.02mm by taking the product apart and additionally bending to the leaf spring. In addition, zeroing and bringing the shoe to the measured object should be done by touching the sled in the same area. This minimizes forces that could reveal the play. 2. The shoe is not in the same plane as the base: the back of the shoe is slightly higher than it's tip. On my product this difference is 0.03mm. This can't be corrected. Lastly some edges in the shoe area have light burrs that have to be sanded. The movement is pretty smooth. Overall it's a good instrument if the above points are considered but not robust enough for repeatable precision measurements.
