I am using the optical cable for the connection. IMHO the sound is not a big improvement over the TV.. At louder volume levels maybe but the clarity of speech via the soundbar seems to be about the same as the TV. This purchase was on the expectation that there would be better clarity of the spoken word, especially from movies. The preset equilizer settings are probably not accurately set. Maybe a software update could solve the problem! Overall, an attractive and well constructed product which could well be a better soundbar with greater attention to the software powering the preset modes. liphilw
