The big problem with this facemask is the exhaling valve. The valve is not faulty, but but it might as well be missing completely. It resists to open so strongly when closed it doesn't open with normal exhaling.. So all the exhaled CO² goes out through the sides of the mask instead of through the valve. To test wether the valve will open you have to put your mouth around it inside the mask and blow strongly, which is not the way it was intended to be used.
