I've had these bulbs for several weeks now and find that they are very bright and give out far more light than the CFL bulbs that they replaced. So in that respect I am more than happy. However, following a TV program warning that these bulbs could be dangerous, I decided to check and test for myself. I have two major criticisms. 1st there is no secondary insulation barrier to prevent any live wires from making contact with the metal shell. 2nd the wires on the front of the bulb also have a direct connection to the live wires. Both these issues can be addressed by a plastic wrap inside the shell of the bulb and the other by a small blob of epoxy on the soldered wires on the front of the bulb. Having modified mine, I am happy that any shock hazard is mitigated.
